Demo 4 Simulation

The simulation system built by Lockheed at Lockheed expense for Phase 2 of the
PA program
consisted of a cockpit and a three screen out-of-the-window display
environment. The cockpit was built to replicate
the then-current emerging view of the cockpit of an Advanced Technology
Fighter (ATF) that later became the
Lockheed-Boeing F/A-22. The simulation was capable of creating over a
hundred dynamic entities, 50 of which
were capable of intelligent reaction to the behavior of other entities.
The out-of-the-window displays were able
to show high-fidelity representations of other entities such as the PA
aircraft's wingman shown in this figure.
Since all missions were to be flown at high altitude, the ground model
was not a factor. However, for other
purposes, a high-fidelity model of the local terrain was also available.
