This is a view of the Tactical Situation Display a little later in the mission
when the pilot was considering an attack
on a hostile aircraft. The close-up view shows the target area in
detail. The system is also displaying the (unclassified)
representation of the signature of his aircraft - the region in which
the nearest enemy detection system would be able to
detect his aircraft. The function of the Mission Planner was to
generate routes that used this footprint to minimize the aircraft exposure
to detection. The pilot has "pulled down" the sub-menu of options
available to him, and selected the Enemy Order of Battle (EOB)
- the display of the enemy SAM sites normally shown on the defensive
situation display.
